UiS Subsea consists of dedicated students at the University of Stavanger who design, build, and program ROVs. The organization provides students with valuable hands-on experience in technology, electronics, and project work – skills that are highly relevant to the industries in which Ixys operates.
New projects and goals for 2025-2026
After last year’s competition was cancelled, UiS Subsea is now aiming for the TAC Challenge 2026, scheduled for June next year. Until then, the team will continue to further develop their ROV to perform even stronger in the competition.
In 2025, UiS Subsea consists of 25 members, mainly first- and second-year students. Although there will be no bachelor’s projects in the spring of 2026, activity is expected to increase again in 2027 as more of today’s members enter their final year.
To strengthen visibility and communication, the organization has also established a marketing team that will help boost activity on social media and promote the team’s projects.

Collaboration and engagement
Ixys values the collaboration with UiS Subsea and looks forward to following the students’ progress in the coming years. We also participate in the annual Subsea Day at the UiS campus, an event that brings together students and industry representatives.
“Our collaboration with UiS Subsea allows us to contribute to the development of future engineers while gaining insight into new ideas and perspectives. We want to help more young people discover exciting career opportunities within subsea technology and remote systems. UiS Subsea is a great example of how passion and collaboration can drive learning and innovation,” says Anne Linn Olsen, Marketing Specialist at Ixys.
