Riserless coiled tubing technology

Ixys deliver complete control system

In a collaboration with Technip FMC, Ixys and Envirex have supplied a complete control system enabling the Riserless Coiled Tubing (RLCT) technology. The RLCT project has been successfully deployed in a live subsea well in the North Sea.

Our control system has transformed a standard subsea injector and stripper into a fully automatic RLCT system. This innovation has significantly enhanced operational efficiency by eliminating the need for complex rig setups and additional equipment. 

We have delivered all control system hardware including electronics and subsea cables as well as our software VJU Studio, a real-time HMI platform engineers use to develop control and visualization for real-time operations. As a critical component of RLCT’s operations, we have developed the most advanced and comprehensive interface ever within VJU 3. Ixys also designed the control system topology and a comprehensive test regime for all the software functions.

Our dedicated team fine tuned the software to ensure ideal performance to the RLCT system and also developing specialized features tailored to Technip FMC.

Award winning technology

Technip FMC received the award for the best example of P&A innovation, at the OWI Global Awards 2024. The RLCT technology also won the 2024 Intervention & Coiled Tubing Association Innovation and Technology Award, which recognizes outstanding technology or technical innovation for well intervention based on reduced risk, increased production, improved safety, or minimized environmental impact.
