Passing the professional exam

Tage Ueland has completed his apprenticeship and passed the professional exam as a production electronics technician at Ixys – congratulations Tage, we are so proud!

Tage had his first meeting with Ixys during a three weeks deployment from Tryggheim upper secondary school in February 2023. After the first week he knew this is the place he wanted to spend his apprenticeship at.

– I got along very well with the others who worked here, they were friendly and pleasant to be around and work with, Tage points out.

In June 2023 after finished the field of study electronics and computer science at Tryggheim VGS, he started his journey as an apprentice at Ixys.

The professional exam

The exam itself consist of five different sections: planning, execution of two tasks, documentation and self evaluation.

According to Tage, the professional exam was a bit nerve-wracking at the start and finish, with unforeseen challenges, just as he had mentally prepared for.

– I planned spending three days in the production line and two days working hands on with the Manipulator Controller. Building the Manipulator Controller, I already had the experience so I knew I could finish it in overtime if that was the case. But working at the production line, if I needed help I was dependent on help from others and therefore I started the first three days there, Tage says.

This turned out to be a good plan.

A new skilled member at team Ixys

Although it is still sinking in, Tage takes great pride in becoming a qualified professional and wants to learn more at Ixys.

-I want to become a Jarl-Ove (the Workshop Manager) number two because he is the one who can answer all the questions and help others! Tage smiles.

Congratulations to Tage on earning his certificate! We look forward to seeing him grow – and hope to have him as a permanent member of Team Ixys.
