From apprentice to skilled worker at Ixys
Emilie Marie Breivik, almost 24 years old, has completed her apprenticeship and passed the professional exam as a production electronics technician at Ixys – and we are incredibly proud of her!
Emilie began her journey at Ixys in 2022 as a logistics manager. It was during this time that she became fascinated by the production environment and the technical solutions within the company. When she heard that Ixys was looking to hire an apprentice in production electronics, she knew this was something she wanted to pursue.
– I figured out what I wanted to become while working in logistics at Ixys. It was exciting with the production of our products, and I wanted to learn more and develop myself further, says Emilie.
The professional exam – demanding and educational
For Emilie, the professional exam was an intense experience. She describes the days as demanding – with logging, documentation, and working from morning to night.
– It was very stressful, the worst part was the pressure and being completely on my own. But I knew I could ask for help if it was something I had never done before, as long as I documented it well, she points out.
A new professional in the Ixys Team
Even though it hasn’t fully sunk in yet, Emilie feels a strong sense of pride in becoming a skilled worker.
– Having an education means a lot, and it’s really nice to be a professional. Now that I have a certificate, more is expected of me and I’m expected to work more independently, Emilie explains.
Looking ahead – and preferably at Ixys
She hopes the path forward continues through the doors of Ixys, where she has already gained solid experience and enjoys her work.
– I like the variety in my workday here. One week I might be working on circuit boards and cable production, and the next week I could be building complete control systems. It’s both exciting and challenging, Emilie adds.
