The Kolumbus city bike is an electric bike-sharing system operating across Rogaland, and Ixys has been involved in the project from the start. Back in 2019 we developed a custom PCB for the bikes, and as new bikes are now being manufactured, we’re now in the process of manufacturing 1300 new PCBs.
“Our PCB functions as the brain of the bike, managing all communication and control functions. This includes GPS positioning, e-bike system control, electronic locking, and communication with the docking points to enable docking, charging and undocking at session start and completion,” says Ole Morten Haaland, Embedded Manager at Ixys.

Technology across industries
Through this project, Ixys continues to contribute advanced electronic solutions that power smarter, connected transportation systems for the future. The PCB delivery for city bikes, and other exciting projects like Andøya Space and Roboxi, also shows that our knowledge is applicable for systems used in various types of environments, from subsea to land and in space.

Quality assurance
Every electronic board is thoroughly tested at Ixys’ in-house facilities to ensure top quality and reliability before being shipped to the customer.
